Ruth O’Connell is the distributor of TanOrganic in the Middle East. TanOrganic includes a range of luxury self-tanning products and accessories. It is the worlds first 100% natural and certified organic tanning range. We asked Ruth some questions on the industry.
In your opinion, how popular is the organic industry in the UAE and the Middle East?
Whether it is Food, Skin Care or beauty products there is a fast growing demand for organic and natural products. Consumers who care about what they eat also care about what they are applying to their skin. The range of Beauty and Skincare products are growing rapidly in line with increased demand. As people become more aware of the benefits of organic products, they are turning to natural and organic products like Tan Organic to avoid synthetic and chemical ingredients.
Why, in your opinion, do people prefer buying organic nowadays?
I believe that if there is an organic option, consumers will buy it. I educate clients on how important an organic self-tan is as you will wear a tanning product on your skin for up to a week. 60% of what you apply to your skin will be absorbed, so for a self-tan you really should use organic. TanOrganic is the only Eco Certified organic product on the market. There is a huge amount of research available about the benefits of natural and organic products which people are using to educate themselves with. This is influencing their purchasing decisions and we will see this market growing stronger over the coming years.
How do you determine/discover the products to sell in this market?
I have been using TanOrganic for many years. I couldn’t find a self-tan in the UAE that could offer the beautiful golden natural colour that the TanOrganic self tan could, and was organic. I met with the brand creator in Ireland and we decided that there was a market here in the Middle East for the range of TanOrganic? products.
