Soul Sante café is a fully vegan, gluten free, sugar free and soy free café. It’s a one stop to a better lifestyle, using ayurvedic cooking principles, combined with modern technique. We interviewed Manisha Advani to find out more about her outlook on organic products.

Why is using natural and organic products important in today’s day and age?

We are trying to reduce the carbon footprint caused, as it’s affecting not only air quality, but also increasing diseases which weren’t as easily contracted before. People stopped caring about where their food came from, or what went into it. Secondly, the chemicals associated with the products ¬– You want the product to showcase what its actually truly meant for.

What trends do you foresee in this space?

Ancestral technology such as naturopathy and Ayurveda taking over the generic medicine space. They always said prevention is better than cure, eating clean food can really change the way we process the food and how our body functions in reaction to this. The science concentrates the blend of natural ingredients available to us, and combines it. Its stresses on attaining vitality by building a healthy metabolic system and maintaining good digestion

Speaking of natural ingredients, a study says: a higher frequency of organic food consumption was associated with a reduced risk of cancer

From where do you source your products/ingredients? Which countries would you like to source more from?

Think local, buy local, be local. It’s our dedication to support local community and businesses. Sourcing local produce gives us fresher ingredients and promotes sustainability within the UAE. Although the climate we are living in, it is still harder to find ingredients that are tasting great round the year locally, hence we then look to options from India, as it’s the closest with the widest climate range, as well as as, Egypt.

What advice would you give to others to lead such a lifestyle?

One can start small by planting your own garden. It’s a great activity, and your knowledge increases 10-fold. Support businesses that supply these kinds of products locally, organic doesn’t just mean grown naturally but sourcing locally as transportation tends to alter the way the product gets digested.
