Awarded ‘Startup of the Year’ at the Etisalat SMB Awards 2018, Farmchimp is a company that promotes natural, preservative-free products in the UAE while promoting farmers from Kerala and the region. They have a novel supply system and truly believing in delivering the best, most wholesome food to their consumers. We interviewed the founder of Farmchimp, PC Kabeer, about his company and future plans.
Please let us know the type of natural products sold at Farmchimp.
At Farmchimp we procure from handpicked responsible farmers who are known for their natural farming methods (such as traditional farming, zero budget farming, etc). These practices avoid using chemical fertilizers and pesticides. We also ensure that no preservatives or additives are used in our products.
From where do you export the products?
Currently we export from India to the UAE.
How do your support farmers?
We ensure the farmers we deal with are paid fair price for their products. Payments are settled immediately for small farmers. We also do not sign any exclusive agreements with any of them, which means they are free to sell in the market or to anyone should they get a better price.
What advise do you have for other future and current organic/natural start-ups?
We need to be consistent and keep up high standards. Focus on quality. The profits will come in eventually.
Would you also look at including organic products in the future?
Definitely. All our products are natural, though not organically certified, which means different things to different governments and organizations.
